ancient futures

Our societies and cultures are rooted in the stories that have been told through the centuries. 

In working with these mythological women, I have returned to the use of mosaics. Art, as in life, is predominately involved in relationships, each tessera is individual and has its own characteristics, whether it be color or forms.  Much like a jigsaw puzzle, these tiles, when combined become a unified, meaningful world.

The silhouetted figures  are the shadows of memory. The distant beginnings of these archaic stories. The forms take the look of a missing puzzle piece. It is a piece that only culture can provide.
